Used Book Buying Hours
Seven days a week, by appointment. Appointment slots fall between 9–10am and 12–1pm. There is very high demand for this program, so you may have to schedule far in advance (sometimes up to two months).
We offer in-store credit only (no cash) for about 40% of the retail value of the books we’ve chosen to buy.
We are perennially overstocked on used children’s books, so we may not be able to accept large quantities all at once.
- Request an appointment with the form below. Please do not book more than one appointment in a single day, and cancel at least 24 hours ahead if your plans change.
- Arrive on time to drop off your books, with your name, phone number, and a valid US driver’s license or passport (as required by state pawn shop laws).
- We assess your books and text you when your offer is ready. Other offers may be in process, so it may take some time.
- Accept your offer within six months — a signature is required. Store credit never expires and is valid for every item in the store.
Books we don’t purchase must be picked up before closing at 9pm on the day of your appointment. Due to limited space, books left overnight are donated to local nonprofits.
We love our local authors

Institutional sales
Businesses, nonprofits and institutions buying 25 or more copies of a book get bulk discounts, direct shipping, and a dedicated local representative.
For a quote we need the institution name, contact name and information, book title, author, and quantity. Consider us for your next author event, company party or educational event, too!
Young Reviewers
For students in grades 4–8
We partner with local schools and students to create reviews of middle-grade and YA books, written by students for students. Young Reviewers get advance copies of books not yet published to review and promote.
Teen Book Crew
For students in grades 9–12
Free advance reading copies in return for your honest opinions. Come in anytime and ask a staff member to look through our available advance copies — you can take up to 2 at once, and keep the book after the review!
Every December
Holiday Book Drive
As book lovers, we know how vital it is for children to have access to public school libraries. Donations in any amount fulfill local public school librarians’ wish lists, spread across Anytown Unified, North Anytown, Lakeside and Hillcrest school districts.
We aim to raise over $10,000. With the money you donate, we buy school-selected books at a discount, making your donation go even further.
Raffle Week, December 6th–14th: give during Raffle Week to be entered to win a local sports fan pack with four game tickets.
Give in store or by phone
Choose $1, $5, $10, $20, $50 or $100 — and a school district if you like. Unassigned gifts go where they’re needed most.
